Apple Starts Sale of Unlocked iPhone 4 in the US
Rumors were abound over the week end that Apple would be opening sales of unlocked iPhone soon and now Apple is actually offering unlocked iPhone 4 in its retail stores. However, it is only the GSM version that is available without a carrier contract, the CDMA model is still available on Verizon contract only.
The offer benefits international travelers who can then easily change their sims when going to some other countries and would not have to roaming fees, which cannot be avoided in case of phones bought on contract from a particular carrier.
The unlocked iPhone 4 does not come that cheap: the 16GB version is available for $ 649 while the 32GB version can be bought for $ 749.
