HP has updated its ultraportable DM1 with a fresher look, some software-add ons and specs enhancements. It will be the first laptop that comes with HP Soft-touch Imprint technology.  The laptop will come in two different models; one featuring the second-gen Core processor and the other with an AMD E-series processor. The AMD models will also feature AMD Radeon HD discrete graphics.  .

This light and slim laptop is less than an inch thick and carries a weight of 3.52 lbs. it features an 11.6-inch LED display. It has a battery life of 11.5 hours.

On the outer side design enhancements include replacement of the shiny glossy finish with a soft rubber type material called SoftTouch. It will be available either in “traditional charcoal gloss finish or a soft-touch ash black finish with a stylized pattern.” The laptop’s wedge shape is more prominent than the original model. Its keyboard, touchpad, and palm rests are no longer silver. They are now either black or ash grey.

On the software side, HP has introduced Launch Boxes which let you organize your apps for accessing them quickly on the Windows 7 task bar with a simple click.

The AMD model will have a starting price of at $399 while the Intel processors version will start with a price of $599.99.  The Intel model will additionally feature an external optical drive. The ADM version in charcoal color will be available from 21 September while the charcoal Intel model will become available from October 30. Both soft-touch ash models will arrive in fall.
