Facebook Music feature had been in reports long before the f8. Now Facebbook has finally unveiled this awesome feature where users can now stream music and share with their friends tracks they like and even listen to songs on Facebook through the  “Listen with a friend” feature in the ticker, something Mark Zuckerberg calls “frictionless experience.”

The new open graph feature gives real-time deep integration to users and lets them share their music taste with friends. This will take social sharing of musical tastes and songs to a new level where you can in fact see a “roll-up” of all the tracks your friends have been listening to and these can be streamed through services like Spotify.

The Spotify CEO Daniel EK was also on the f8 stage to show how they are working together with Facebook. According to Ek Facebook users on Spotify listen to more music than others. That shows the potential for music streaming on Facebook.

Spotify has also put together this video illustrating their new Facebook initiatives:

Elk also posted on Spotify’s blog:
“You’ll now start seeing new music posts and play buttons all over your newsfeeds. Hit a play button and the music starts. Right there. Spotify fires up to give you a new soundtrack to your social life. Check out your new Music Dashboard and your real-time ticker to discover the music that’s trending with your friends.

This integration with Facebook will help everyone to discover more free music than ever before. Thanks to our unrivalled, truly free service, users can just hit play to enjoy the music, no hassle, no gimmicks; month after month after month.

We hope many more people can enjoy the musical journeys that this integration will bring. Like the thrill of looking through a friend’s music collection and finding a track that blows your mind. Or sending birthday playlists across the planet.”
