Facebook is introducing a new type of Ad Unit which will expand when a friend likes it. Once it expands you can add your comments to it and even can see other comments related to the ad.  Facebook believes that an ad can have more impact if your friends like it rather than any standard ad. That way a brand has more chances of being liked by a larger circle of people.

The ad will not appear in the News Feed like Sponsored Stories. Furthermore it also includes some sort of interaction with the brand being advertised which is not the case with Sponsored Stories.

Facebook is expected to announce this change this week at the Advertising Week and will hopefully be received warmly by the advertising circles at a time when social media marketing is quickly gaining a firm stronghold!
