Preorders for Apple’s new iPhone 4S went live on Friday October 7 and the results were astonishingly amazing since many had suspected that there may not be suficient interested buyers since they had been waiting for iPhone 5. However, the preorders were such a success story that within the first 12 hours At&T had to state that iPhone 4S preorders were the most successful ever.

Now Apple has announced that it sold 1 million iPhone 4S during the first 24 hours after the preorders were opened. This has broken the earlier record of iPhone 4 which sold 600,000 units during 24 hours. Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide product marketing, said he was “blown away” by such a response to the iPhone 4S.

iPhone 4S was announced by Apple on October 4 and featured Apple’s faster A5 dual core processor that also powers its iPad 2 thus bringing 2x faster CPU and 7x faster graphics to iPhone 4S. It further has an 8 megapixel camera capable of recording 1080P videos. It also comes with the voice activated assistant Siri, which makes life so much convenient for you.

So far the figures are only for U.S, Canada, Australia, the UK, France, Germany, and Japan where preorders went live on October 7. Apple will open orders in 22 more countries on October 28, making the iPhone 4S available in Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland. By the end of the year iPhone 4S will be available in 70 countries.

This overwhelming response has clearly shown that iPhone still rules the consumer market and that Apple knows the art of stealing consumers away from its competitors.
