While the official release of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for Nexus S is still awaited, an SDK port is available which can be downloaded and installed on Nexus S. However, it does have some bugs as given on the XDA-Developers:
After many rounds of rumors and speculations, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus (earlier known as Nexus Prime) was announced in Hong Kong today at the joint Samsung and Google Event.
The joint Samsung/Google event to introduce Android Ice Cream Sandwich and Samsung Nexus Prime is due to take place on October 19.
The joint Samsung/Google October 11 event which got postponed, has now been rescheduled on October 19 and the location this time is not San Diego but Hong Kong.

The October 11 Google and Samsung joint event dubbed as Samsung Unpacked: Google Edition, has been postponed. Android Ice Cream Sandwich and Samsung’s next flagship phone Nexus Prime were expected to be unveiled at the event.
Earlier we reported Ice Cream Sandwich would be announced on October 11 at a joint Samsung/Google event. Now we have got a video appearing on the internet of Nexus S apparently running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Google’s next Android update the Ice Cream Sandwich has been a subject of much speculation as well as eager wait for months.
