The improvement in technology has been taking place ever since human beings came into existence. From the invention of things like the knives and spear made out of sticks and rocks to help in capturing and killing of animals for food, to items like the first computer and printing press. What we should ask ourselves now is if the advancement in technology has affected our lives positively or negatively.

Technology is a word used to describe the abilities, views, undertakings, and creations of a group of people or person. The advancement in technology has been particularly fast in the 20th and 21st century. With machines and electronic technology being produced and improved all the time, it is very certain that along with the positive part of these new advancements, humans would also consider the negative aspects and look to criticize the improvement.

The Positive Side

According to the popular saying that “Necessity is the mother of invention,” it is no longer a new thing that necessity is always behind the production of every invention. Newer things are happening every day. Technology is responsible for a lot of secular trends such as life expectancy, material standards of living, education levels, communication and health care.

The advancement in technology also influences some other aspects of our lives and the society in many ways, which includes entertainment, governance, human relationships, and our views on matter, morality and our own human nature. The advancements in technology also invigorate economic development as the practical use of technology decreases the overhead charges and the material production costs which helps to improve the economy and lead to national development.

The Negative Aspect

Our society has become more dependent on technology so much that we sometimes lack the willingness to think before we act. We can no longer control our anger if it takes more than a few seconds to download a copy of the early morning newspaper. We always want people to answer their phone calls whenever we call, and we get more furious if someone responds late to our emails.

We are getting hooked up every day with technology that we can’t even spend time to spend with our closed ones. Most people prefer to chat and send online messages to their family and friends even though they are in the same city because they think it’s more effective and faster. But they’ve forgotten that meeting their loved ones personally can never replace online chatting.

Technology was created for people to network and communicate, but some people use it as their only source of communication with their friends and families.

Conclusion

If people use the advancement in technology wisely, it will further inspire the development in non-related and related areas but at the same time, utilizing it in the wrong way can cause havoc to the world and humanity.
